About
Resonance Center

Where clinical science, creativity, and culture harmonize for lasting change

At Resonance Center, we provide advanced psychotherapy that integrates the precision of clinical science with the transformative power of creativity. Grounded in evidence-based practices like EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic / Body-Centered Psychotherapy—and enriched by sound healing and creative expression—we guide clients beyond survival mode toward a more expansive, fulfilling life.

We offer a clinical approach that goes beyond resolving symptoms, addressing the needs of mind, body, and spirit.

My life was saved twice—first through music, and later through therapy and community.

As a first-generation Armenian-American woman and direct descendant of Armenian Genocide survivors, I’ve witnessed how trauma shapes individuals, families, and communities—and how healing can transform them. These experiences inspired me to create Resonance Center for Psychotherapy & Healing Arts, where clinical science meets creativity and culture to foster meaningful, lasting change.

For me, creativity is more than a tool; it’s a bridge to reclaiming wholeness. By integrating quality clinical care with creative expression, I use science, language, sound, art, and movement to guide clients in uncovering their inherent confidence, compassion, and vitality.

Beyond my practice, I’m a musician, mother of two, and advocate for social justice. As a queer woman and cultural minority, I’m dedicated to creating inclusive, affirming spaces where everyone feels seen, respected, and valued.

Mariana Fraga-Zapf, LCSW, SEP

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Trauma Specialist

Mariana Fraga-Zapf, a licensed clinical social worker, sits comfortably in a light green armchair. She’s wearing a teal blouse and dark jeans, with one hand resting on her head and the other on her knee. She’s smiling warmly, and a wooden side table with a potted plant is in the foreground. A green leafy plant and soft white curtains are in the background, creating a welcoming, natural setting.

Healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken — it’s about remembering what’s whole.

I didn't always believe that. For years, I tried to solve life like a puzzle, but the fixes never lasted. My own healing began when I stopped trying to "fix" myself and started listening to my body. Somatic work opened that door, and IFS and Brainspotting helped me access and release emotions I didn’t know I was carrying.

The people I work with often feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected. Rather than rushing to quick fixes, we slow down and listen — to the body, the brain, and the parts of you that haven’t had a voice in a long time.

As the daughter of Brazilian immigrants, I’m attuned to how language and culture shape our sense of safety and belonging. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, I draw on the richness of language, ancestry, and identity in the therapy room. I approach healing through a decolonizing lens, blending evidence-based practices with ancestral wisdom that guided healing long before science had words for it.

Outside of therapy, I love food, culture, music, and movement. I’m a proud mom to two amazing teens, and I find grounding in nature, stillness, and learning from both brain science and ancestral traditions.

Our Commitment to Cultural Humility

We are committed to fostering a space where all individuals feel valued, seen, and respected. We approach our work with cultural humility, recognizing that each person’s experiences, identities, and healing journey are unique and shaped by a variety of factors, including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and cultural background.

We acknowledge that systemic inequities, such as racism, sexism, ableism, and homophobia, can deeply impact mental health and well-being. Our practice is grounded in cultural sensitivity and a trauma-informed approach, ensuring that every client feels heard and supported in a way that honors their lived experiences.

As a team, we are dedicated to ongoing reflection, learning, and growth, striving to deepen our understanding of the diverse identities we serve. You are welcome here, exactly as you are, and we are honored to walk alongside you in your healing journey.
